The number of tick marks on the figures indicates equal (or congruent) sides. The markings show the relationship among the sides, which is important because images are rarely drawn to scale. This is an important concept for students to keep in mind as they continue through the Geometry level.
The Formula Sheet is a valuable math tool. Encourage your student to use it any time they see fit. At the start of this level, students may need a reminder to use it. It is not necessary to memorize formulas. Rather, the goal is to know how to solve problems using these formulas.
