Lesson 1: Math-U-See Sequence, Sets, and Elements
Levels
There are 13 levels in the Math-U-See Curriculum Greek and Legacy series covering concepts from counting to Calculus.
Lower Levels |
Upper Levels |
| Primer—a gentle introduction to mathematics | Pre-Algebra—preparation for algebra |
| Alpha—single-digit addition and subtraction | Algebra 1—linear algebra and understanding quadratics using manipulatives |
| Beta—multiple-digit addition and subtraction | Geometry—Euclidean plane geometry; area, volume, and surface area |
| Gamma—multiplication | Algebra 2—building on algebraic concepts in preparation for trigonometry and calculus |
| Delta—division | PreCalculus—advanced trigonometry and foundation for calculus |
| Epsilon—fractions | Calculus—differential and integral calculus |
| Zeta—decimals and percents |
Math-U-See Curriculum materials are composed of components (individual pieces), elements, and sets.
Universal Sets
Universal Sets contain everything a customer needs for a particular level. Click on each element in the Zeta Universal Set to learn more about that item.

| Instruction Pack | Student Pack | Integer Block Kit | Algebra/Decimal Insert Kit | Digital Pack |
Not all Universal Sets are the same!
-
- The Primer Universal Set does not contain a Tests booklet
- The Primer through Delta Universal Sets contain the Integer Block Kit but not the Algebra/Decimal Insert Kit.
- The Epsilon Universal Set contains the Fraction Overlay Kit as the only manipulatives.
- The Geometry, Algebra 2, and PreCalculus Universal Sets don’t contain any manipulatives.
- There’s no Universal Set for Calculus.
- The contents of the Digital Pack will vary from level to level.
These differences are based on the concepts being covered in each curriculum level and what materials are needed.
Level Up Sets

Level Up Sets are for customers who have some of the materials needed (e.g., manipulatives) but need all the remaining materials for a level. For example, if a student is moving from one level to another and already has the integer blocks, but the family needs the remaining materials for the new level, a Level Up Set would be appropriate.
Most Level Up Sets don’t contain manipulatives. However, because the Zeta through Algebra 1 levels use two different sets of manipulatives (i.e., Integer Block Kit and Algebra/Decimal Insert Kit), their Level Up Sets contain the Algebra/Decimal Inserts. Those levels also have a Level Up Base Set that does not contain any manipulatives.
If you are ever uncertain what is contained in a set, refer to the Demme Learning Store or the Math-U-See Product Knowledge Training Guide (available from your manager or later in this course).
Depending on your role, you may need to explore each element more deeply. Reach out to your manager for guidance.
